Suse reviews progress on Measles & Rubella elimination across Kargil

Kargil, Sept 03: Deputy Commissioner Kargil, Shrikant Balasaheb Suse on Tuesday chaired the quarterly review meeting of School Health and Wellness Program and the District Task Force Committee for Measles and Rubella (MR) Elimination.

The crucial meeting was attended by Chief Medical Officer, Dr Liyaqat Ali; Chief Education Officer, SD Namgial; District Program Officer, ICDS, Nargis Banoo; Coordinator DIET, Dr Villayat Ali; District Immunization Officer, Dr Rubia Banoo; District Nodal Officer, SHWP, Dr. Abdul Jalil; District Program Officer Mohd Ishaq, and as well as a representative from Baqaria Health Clinic, Kargil.

During the meeting, Suse who is also the CEO of LAHDC Kargil, reviewed the status of health and wellness camps/day across all the blocks. He also received progress reports from the concerned BMOs regarding the vaccination efforts.

DC Kargil encouraged stakeholders and field workers for their tireless contributions to improving health services in the district, and directed necessary improvements and updation of data.

District Nodal Officer, Dr Abdul Jalil gave a detailed presentation on the School Health and Wellness Program, outlining its status and developments.

Following this, District Immunization Officer, Dr Rabiya Banoo gave a presentation on the MR elimination program besides detailed about its current status and future roadmap.

Suse chaired another meeting to review ongoing preparations for the upcoming Swachhata Hi Seva (SHS) campaign 2024.

The nationwide cleanliness campaign is set to take place over a fortnight, beginning on the 17th of this month with several preparatory events, an official spokesperson said.

The campaign will culminate on October 02. This year marks a decade of commemorating the “Swachhata Hi Seva” campaign, an initiative that has been observed annually since its inception in 2014 in honour of Gandhi Jayanti.

The meeting was attended by Chief Medical Officer Dr. Liyaqat Ali; Chief Education Officer, SD Namgial; Division Forest Officer, Mohd Ali; Assistant Director Tourism/General Manager DIC Kargil, Rahmatullah Butt; ACD Kargil, Padma Angmo; Headquarter Assistant to DC Arifa Iqbal Lone,; Executive Officer MC Kargil, Raziya Khatoon; District Program Officer, ICDS, Nargis Banoo; CPO Hadi Ali and AIO, Anwar Ali.
During the meeting, DC Kargil sought details on the activities planned by all the line departments for the Swachhata Hi Seva campaign. He instructed officials to upload information on activities conducted by or before October 01.

The Deputy Commissioner emphasized the importance of cohesive teamwork in preparing the program schedule and ensuring active participation from all departments. He specified that all SDMs would lead the activities at the sub-divisional level.

He also expressed confidence that the campaign will significantly contribute to the government’s ongoing mission to promote cleanliness and hygiene across India.

The Swachhata Hi Seva campaign is designed to mobilize citizens through various activities. The campaign seeks to emphasize on promoting Swachhata as part of behavior: ‘Swabhav Swachhata, Sanskar Swachhata.’

The meeting also covered various initiatives undertaken by MC Kargil, RD&PRD Kargil, Tourism and other relevant departments.

The addressed activities scheduled for October 1st, include cleanliness drives, large-scale initiatives, innovations, and community engagement. It also discussed promoting event highlights through social media handles and cross-promotions.
