Leh, Sept 02: The Ladakh Science Foundation (LSF) hosted an exhilarating Science Outreach Program at the Mahabodhi Residential School in Choglamsar, Leh, on September 1, 2024. Running from 3:00 PM to 10:00 PM, the event captivated students and science enthusiasts alike with a rich array of hands-on activities and expert presentations, celebrating the marvels of science and technology.
The program featured a diverse lineup of experts from various fields. Amogh Aradhya, an IT professional from Bangalore, offered an engaging demonstration of 3D design and printing. Participants had the opportunity to see intricate models come to life and gain insight into the transformative potential of this technology.
Anish T P, a visual designer also from Bangalore, introduced the art of Origami. His creative paper-folding techniques enthralled the audience as they watched simple sheets of paper transform into intricate representations of animals and objects.
Italian guest Marco Gerletti, founder of Solarpunk Nomads, delivered a compelling session on climate change. His talk highlighted the urgent need for sustainable living and innovative solutions to tackle environmental issues, resonating deeply with the attendees.
Nayan Telrandhe from Pune, representing LSF and HIAL, provided a breathtaking sky-watching experience. Participants had the chance to observe celestial wonders, including Saturn, nebulae, and globular clusters, through telescopes, fostering a deeper appreciation for the cosmos.
Dr. Stanzin Passang of LSF led a captivating session on live tracking and data reception from the NOAA-19 weather satellite. Attendees gained a real-time perspective on satellite operations and their critical role in weather forecasting.
The Science Outreach Program proved to be a resounding success, nurturing curiosity and scientific thinking among Ladakh’s youth. With free entry for students and LSF members, the event ensured that the excitement of science was accessible to everyone.
