- Two-day workshop on Cooperative Development concludes
Leh, Sept 02: In a notable endorsement of cooperative development efforts, Stanzin Chosphel, the Hon’ble Executive Councillor (Cooperative) for LAHDC, Leh, has praised the National Cooperative Union of India (NCUI) and urged cooperative members to deepen their engagement in cooperative activities.
Chosphel’s remarks came during the closing ceremony of a two-day workshop aimed at advancing cooperative development in the Union Territory of Ladakh. The workshop, which saw the participation of over 250 delegates from cooperative societies across Leh and Kargil districts, was organized by the NCUI in collaboration with the Cooperative Department of UT Ladakh.
The workshop focused on enhancing cooperative management and fostering sectoral growth, with sessions dedicated to improving operational efficiency and expanding cooperative outreach. Chosphel, who served as the chief guest, reaffirmed the LAHDC’s commitment to supporting future training programs financially, underscoring the administration’s dedication to boosting cooperative operations in the region.
Dr. Mohd Abass, Deputy Registrar of Cooperatives for Leh, provided a comprehensive overview of the cooperative landscape in Ladakh. He highlighted various developmental interventions funded by the UT and LAHDC, emphasizing ongoing efforts to support and stimulate cooperative growth.
Dr. Zakir Hussain, in his address, stressed the vital role of cooperatives in driving rural economic development. He called on the NCUI to extend its programs to Kargil, advocating for a broader reach to ensure comprehensive regional development.
The workshop also saw active participation from notable organizations, including the National Cooperative Development Corporation (NCDC), the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD), Unati, Looms of Ladakh Women Cooperative, and the Fruit Growers and Marketing Cooperative Society Kargil.
