Leh, Sept 01: A heartfelt memorial event was held today at the Dorjay Motup Memorial Park in Housing Colony, Leh, to honor the fifth anniversary of the late Shri Dorjay Motup, former Chairman/CEC of the LAHDC Leh. The ceremony, attended by a distinguished gathering, celebrated the significant contributions and enduring legacy of Dorjay Motup, who is remembered for his unwavering dedication to the community.
The event was graced by prominent figures including Chairman/CEC of LAHDC Leh, Adv. Tashi Gyalson; Kyabje Kunga Rinpoche; Executive Councillor for Minority Affairs, Ghulam Mehdi; Nominated Councillor Ven. Konchok Tsepel; Hon’ble Councillors; Former Member of Parliament Jamyang Tsering Namgyal; Former CEC Rigzin Spalbar; BJP President Phunchok Stanzin; BJP Vice President; District President Tashi Gyaltsan Kachu; Gonpa Association Vice President; and the family members of the late Dorjay Motup.
In his address, CEC Tashi Gyalson emphasized the importance of commemorating such events to acknowledge the profound impact of Dorjay Motup’s work. He praised the late Chairman’s humility, nobility, and commitment to the underprivileged. Gyalson expressed his dedication to continuing in Motup’s footsteps, particularly his vision for the Changthang region to be designated as a district to enhance administrative efficiency. Gyalson remarked that Dorjay Motup would have been pleased to see this vision come to fruition.
Former MP Jamyang Tsering Namgyal echoed these sentiments, highlighting that the creation of the Changthang District was a long-held dream of Dorjay Motup. Namgyal noted the late Chairman’s lifelong commitment to serving the people and improving their lives, underscoring the profound impact of his legacy.
