Pashkum, Aug 29: Government Higher Secondary School, Pashkum, today celebrated National Sports Day with great enthusiasm and vigor. The event, held in honor of the birth anniversary of Major Dhyan Chand, the legendary hockey player, aimed to promote the importance of sports and physical activities among students. The celebration commenced with welcome speech by Zakir sir, followed by an introductory speech by Fatima Zahra a class 9th student, emphasizing the significance of sports in developing discipline, teamwork, and a healthy lifestyle.
Later, Chief Guest Principal Ishey Namgail inaugurated the ceremony with National Anthem and interacted with the players participating in various games. The day was marked by a series of sports events, including, volleyball, Tug of war and various Fun games. Students from various classes participated eagerly, showcasing their talent and sportsmanship.
The school’s playground was abuzz with excitement as participants gave their best efforts in each event. The major match was a highlight of the day, drawing cheers from the gathered spectators. Winners of the various events were awarded medals and certificates in a prize distribution ceremony held in the afternoon.
The Chief Guest, Ishey Namgail, encouraged the students to continue participating in sports and to strive for excellence in both academics and athletics. The celebration concluded with a vote of thanks by the Sports Coordinator, Ghulam Murtaza PEM who expressed gratitude to all the participants, teachers, and staff for their contributions to making the event a success.
