Leh, Aug 28: Team India’s head coach, Mohd Abbass Nordakh, and the national girls’ ice speed skating team from Ladakh were met with a rousing reception upon their arrival at Leh Airport today. The athletes, who have recently brought national acclaim to their region with their impressive performances, were greeted with great enthusiasm by a crowd of well-wishers including YSS officers, sports department representatives, members of the Ladakh Ice Skating Association (LISA), and their proud parents.
The warm reception underscored the immense pride and support felt by the local community for the young skaters’ remarkable achievements. Their dedication and hard work on the ice have not only elevated their individual profiles but have also shone a spotlight on Ladakh’s growing prominence in the sport.
The event saw a colorful display of traditional Ladakhi cultural performances, symbolizing the deep respect and admiration the region holds for its sporting heroes. The athletes, beaming with pride, were showered with flower petals and offered traditional gifts as a mark of honor.
In a heartfelt address, Mohd Abbass Nordakh praised the team’s unwavering commitment and perseverance. “This reception is not just for the athletes but for everyone who supported them along the way,” Nordakh said. “Their achievements are a testament to the spirit of dedication and teamwork.”
The Ladakh Ice Skating Association (LISA) also expressed their gratitude, highlighting how the team’s success has put Ladakh on the national sporting map. “We are incredibly proud of these athletes,” said a LISA spokesperson. “Their hard work and determination have brought us all together in celebration.”
