Ganderbal, Aug 29: The renowned trekking destinations of Vishansar and Nichnai in Sonamarg witnessed the first snowfall of the year on Wedneday evening signaling the arrival of winter in the region. The snowfall began on Wednesday, following several days of overcast skies and rain in the Ganderbal district.
The snowfall has brought a noticeable drop in temperatures, prompting locals and visitors to take out their winter clothing and resort to using electric heating devices to stay warm.
The region experienced a spell of rainfall starting on Wednesday, leading up to the weekend’s snowfall. The Meteorological Department has forecasted continued cloudy skies with the possibility of more rain in the coming days, extending through to the end of the month.
