Khaltsi, Aug 28: The Agriculture Department of Khaltsi organized a vibrant one-day Krishi Mela cum vegetable and flower exhibition at the Block Headquarters today. The event, which took place on August 28, was inaugurated by Executive Councillor for Agriculture Stanzin Chosphel and Councillor Lobzang Sherab, who served as the Chief Guest.
The exhibition was well-attended, with notable figures including Chief Agriculture Officer Thinley Dawa, District Agriculture Officer Tashi Dolma, and Naib Tehsildar Mohd Yousuf, alongside all Heads of Departments (HODs) from the Khaltsi Subdivision. The event also saw enthusiastic participation from local residents and regional exhibitors.
During his visit to the various stalls, Chief Guest Stanzin Chosphel praised the exhibition’s success and took the opportunity to congratulate the Sham region for its recent designation as a District. He lauded the community’s efforts, highlighting the impressive transformation of the barren Alchi Thang land into a flourishing green space through innovative drip irrigation techniques led by Councillor Lobzang Sherab.
The event concluded with a prize distribution ceremony recognizing outstanding contributions in the vegetable and flower exhibition categories. The awards underscored the high quality and diversity of local produce and floral arrangements, celebrating the region’s agricultural achievements and creativity.
The Krishi Mela not only showcased the region’s agricultural prowess but also fostered a spirit of community and innovation, setting a precedent for future events and practices.
