Leh, Aug 27: The first-semester students of the Department of History at the University of Ladakh (UoL), accompanied by their faculty members Dr. Nazia Jabeen and Dr. Rinchen Dolma, participated in the 7th All Ladakhi College Students’ Conference. The event, held at the Dharma Centre in Choglamsar, focused on the theme “Importance of Holistic Education for Young Minds of the 21st Century.”
The conference brought together students from various colleges and schools across Ladakh, fostering a shared dialogue on the role of holistic education in shaping future leaders. The event featured several sessions, with topics ranging from educational philosophy to practical applications in the context of Ladakhi culture and society.
A highlight of the conference was a paper presentation by Ms. Tsering Spaldon, a first-semester student from the UoL’s Department of History. In the first session, Ms. Spaldon presented her paper titled “Revisiting the History of Inter-Religious Harmony in Ladakh,” which delved into the rich historical tradition of religious coexistence in the region. Her presentation was well-received, sparking discussions on the relevance of historical perspectives in contemporary educational practices.
Dr. Phunstog Angmo, the Coordinator of the Department of History at UoL, expressed pride in the active participation of the students, emphasizing the importance of such conferences in broadening their academic and cultural horizons. The event concluded with a call for continued dialogue on holistic education as a means to empower the youth of Ladakh in the 21st century.
