Sankoo, Aug 27: In a robust effort to enhance road safety, Traffic Police Ladakh, under the “I Drive Safe” Awareness Campaign, conducted an impactful road safety program in Sankoo Sub Division. The event, held under the leadership of SP Traffic Ladakh, Kacho Ishtyaq AA Khan, brought together drivers, members of local transport associations, and residents of Sankoo.

The program featured a series of informative sessions and interactive discussions aimed at raising awareness about safe driving practices. Inspector Nisar, DTI Kargil, emphasized the critical nature of the campaign, highlighting the vital role of public participation in improving road safety.

SP Traffic Ladakh Kacho Ishtyaq AA Khan stressed the importance of adhering to safe driving habits. He urged drivers to take adequate rest and ensure proper sleep before embarking on long journeys. He also underscored the necessity of wearing seat belts at all times, avoiding the use of mobile phones while driving, and maintaining vehicle fitness. Additionally, he warned against overspeeding, rash driving, and the dangers associated with overtaking.

SP Traffic Ladakh assured attendees that the commitment to road safety is shared by key officials, including the Lieutenant Governor of UT Ladakh, Dr. Brigadier (Retd) BD Mishra, and the Additional Director General of Police, Dr. SD Singh Jamwal. Both are deeply dedicated to improving road safety and traffic management in the region.

As part of the campaign’s initiatives, “I Drive Safe” and “Meri Safety, Mere Haath Mai” stickers were distributed and affixed to vehicles. These stickers serve as constant reminders for drivers to prioritize safety and practice responsible driving habits.

The event concluded with a renewed commitment from all participants to uphold road safety standards and contribute to a safer driving environment in Ladakh.
