- EC Punchok Tashi thanks PM for creating Zanskar as new district
Kargil, Aug 27: On behalf of people of Zanskar Sub Division, Executive Councilor, LAHDC, Kargil, Er. Punchok Tashi today expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi-led Government for the historic decision to declare Zanskar as a new district in the Union Territory of Ladakh.
“This monumental announcement, made by Union Home Minister Shi Amit Shah on 26th August 2024, marks a significant step towards enhancing governance and development in the region,” EC Tashi said.
He said the creation of Zanskar as a new district is a testament to the government’s commitment, under the leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi, to bring prosperity and opportunities to every corner of Ladakh.
“This move is expected to bolster local administration, improve infrastructure, and provide better access to essential services for the residents of Zanskar,” the EC said.
“We are deeply thankful to the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi and his government for recognizing the unique needs of our region and taking this transformative step. The establishment of Zanskar as a district will undoubtedly pave the way for a brighter future for our people.”
The people of Zanskar look forward to the positive changes and opportunities that this new district will bring, and they remain optimistic about the continued development and prosperity of Ladakh under the visionary leadership of the Modi government.
“The struggle of the people of Zanskar since 1978 has finally been acknowledged and heard by the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi,” he said.
On Monday, the Hon’ble Union Home Minister announced the creation of five new districts in UT Ladakh, raising their number to seven in a decision welcomed by local people as fulfilment of their long-pending demand. The new districts are: Zanskar, Drass, Sham, Nubra, and Changthang.
