District Election Office conducts training for BLOs ahead of electoral roll revision

Leh, Aug 27: A one-day training program for Booth Level Officers (BLOs) and BLO Supervisors on Special Summary Revision of Photo Electoral Rolls was organized by District Election Office today on August 27, at Conference Hall, DC Office Leh. Election Naib Tehsildar, Tsewang Dorjey along with resource person Sajjad Hussain and Abdul Rashid led the training program.
During the program, a presentation was made to understand the use of BLO app in fulfilling the responsibilities assigned to the BLOs, during their house-to-house survey. It was emphasized that no household should be missed behind during the SSR survey.
The BLOs were instructed on how to use the app and how to fill in information such as their address, photos, no of males, females and third gender, list of 17+ but not turned 18 electors and how to do changes if any. The roles and responsibilities of BLOs and their contribution was also stressed during the training session.
The resource person also highlighted the significance of the Special Summary Revision. It was mentioned that, with new technology and availability of online and offline services, BLOs can improve the quality and accuracy of the electoral roll.
Queries raised by BLOs was also addressed during the training session. BLOs from different region joined the training.
The training was done in view of the schedule issued by Election Commission of India for the Special Summary Revision of Photo electoral rolls with respect to 1st January 2025 as the qualifying date across UT Ladakh among other States/UTs, so that final publication of electoral roll is made.
