Leh, Aug 26: Thinles Nurboo, Councillor of the Kungyam Constituency in the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC) Leh and General Secretary of the All Changthang Pashmina Growers Cooperative Marketing Society, has expressed profound congratulations following the recent announcement by the Indian government to create five new districts in Ladakh.

Nurboo, who is also the State President of the BJP Yuva Morcha in BJP Ladakh, highlighted the elevation of the Changthang region to district status as a historic and transformative decision. In a heartfelt statement, he conveyed his deep appreciation to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, Member of Parliament Shri Jamyang Tsering Namgyal, and Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, B.D. Mishra, for recognizing the unique needs of the Changthang region.

“This is indeed a historic moment for all the people of the Changthang region,” Nurboo said. “The new district status will not only nurture the cultural promotion of our unique landscape but will also provide better opportunities for the youth to thrive and excel in their pursuits. It will facilitate the development of our villages and offer room for region-specific growth.”

Nurboo emphasized that this decision opens a broad range of opportunities for the people of Changthang, and he thanked the key figures who played crucial roles in achieving this milestone. His gratitude extended to former Lieutenant Governor R.K. Mathur, as well as the former and current councillors of the LAHDC Leh, BDCs from various blocks of Changthang, and the President and General Council Members (GCM) of the region.

He also acknowledged the invaluable contributions of the Nambardars, Sarpanchs, and Panchayat Halqa members from Changthang’s villages.

In his concluding remarks, Nurboo extended his thanks to the BJP and the Modi government for addressing the long-standing demand of the Changthang people. “This is a momentous occasion in our region’s history, and I congratulate the entire Changthang community on this significant achievement,” he added.

The creation of the new districts is seen as a significant step towards more localized governance and development in Ladakh, promising a brighter future for its diverse and vibrant communities.
