Leh, Aug 25: In an empathic display of solidarity and support, the Ladakh University Student Union, led by President Dorjay Namgyal, organized a candlelight march at the Leh Campus on August 23rd. The event was attended by a somber assembly including Dean of Student Welfare Dr. Jigmet Deachen, PRO Dr. Riyaz M K Khan, Er. Tashi, Incharge Admin of the Leh Campus, Sonam Angchuk, SS to the Vice Chancellor, alongside teaching and non-teaching staff, as well as students.

The candlelight vigil was held to honor the memory of those who have recently lost their lives in tragic accidents, and to extend comfort to the grieving families and individuals affected. Participants lit candles in a silent tribute, creating a sea of flickering lights that symbolized hope and remembrance.

Dr. Jigmet Deachen, in a heartfelt condolence message, expressed the collective grief of the university community. “In the wake of these recent accidents, our hearts ache for those who have lost their loved ones. We extend our deepest condolences during this painful time. May the memories of the departed bring solace and strength to those mourning their loss,” Dr. Deachen said.

He emphasized the importance of unity and compassion as the community navigates this period of sorrow. “Words cannot fully capture the pain we feel, but we hope that cherished memories provide comfort. We also wish a swift recovery to those who were injured, and their resilience serves as an inspiration to us all.”
