Leh, Aug 22: Chairman/CEC Tashi Gyalson of the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC), Leh has emphasized for the urgency of accelerating the remaining work of Nimo-Padum-Darcha (NPD) road project within the constraints of the limited working season. He proposed closer collaboration with local villagers to address their needs and recommended the establishment of check posts for better traffic management. The CEC was chairing a crucial meeting on the Nimo-Padum-Darcha (NPD) road project.
The meeting held at the Council Secretariat’s Conference Hall was attended by key officials including DC/CEO Santosh Sukhadeve, Senior Superintendent of Police Shruti Arora, and various Project Yojak officers, focused on advancing the project and addressing several pressing issues. The discussions covered traffic management, road opening schedules, and connectivity concerns.
It was decided that NPD road vehicle movement will be allowed on Sundays and Wednesday mornings, while the Kilima Sector Road will be open to locals on Sundays and on alternate days in both morning and evening slots. These measures aim to streamline traffic flow and enhance accessibility for residents.
The meeting also reviewed the project’s impact on local communities, with plans to improve livelihoods for villagers along the NPD route. Additionally, the alignment of the road at Neyrags was discussed to optimize connectivity.
