DC Leh calls for heritage preservation, telecom upgrades and financial access in Dha Hanu

Leh, Aug 20: In a proactive move to address local concerns in the Dha Hanu region, Deputy Commissioner Leh Santosh Sukhdev convened a crucial meeting today, August 20, at the VC hall. The session aimed to tackle a range of issues affecting the area through collaborative efforts with various departments.

Key outcomes of the meeting included a directive for the Ladakh Police and Antiquities Department to transfer precious ornaments discovered during the JJM excavation in Hanu to the local museum, as requested by the villagers. This move underscores the commitment to preserving local heritage and addressing community wishes.

The progress of telecommunications infrastructure was also a focal point. The Deputy Commissioner received updates on the installation of BSNL towers in the region, with two towers set to be installed in Dha and Hanu Yokma. BSNL has been instructed to expedite the completion of these installations to enhance connectivity for residents.

In response to demands from the local populace, the meeting saw directives issued to the State Bank of India (SBI) and J&K Bank to establish banking units in Hanu. This initiative aims to improve financial services accessibility for the community.

Additionally, the Health Department was directed to appoint a lab assistant to the Primary Health Centre in Hanu, addressing healthcare needs in the region.

The meeting was attended by senior officials including ADDC Leh, SDM Khaltsi, and representatives from various departments and banks, highlighting a collaborative approach to regional development and problem-solving.
