Leh, Aug 20: The BMO office of Leh, under the leadership of Hon’ble Chairman/CEC Tashi Gyalson, who also serves as the Executive Councillor for Health, has successfully organized a series of health camps focused on delivering comprehensive healthcare services to local communities. In collaboration with C-19 projects, these camps have been instrumental in proactive health management, with a particular emphasis on the early identification of Tuberculosis (TB) cases.
One of the most recent and significant initiatives, an X-Ray Screening Camp, was held at the Sub-Center Horzey. The camp’s primary goal was to enhance early detection and enable timely medical intervention, particularly in combating TB—a pressing health concern in many remote areas.
During the camp, 86 individuals from the community underwent X-ray screenings. Of these, four individuals were identified as symptomatic, with one case being suggestive of Active Infection (AI). Additionally, five individuals were flagged as eligible for further sputum testing, underscoring the camp’s thorough approach to screening and diagnosis.
Notably, the camp featured on-site testing facilitated by the CBNAAT Van, which provided rapid analysis of sputum samples. This mobile unit played a critical role in the immediate testing and reassurance of community members. Out of the four samples tested on-site, all returned negative results for TB. However, one sputum sample is still pending collection from the beneficiary, which the health team will follow up on to ensure no cases go undiagnosed.
The success of the X-Ray Screening Camp is a testament to the dedication of the local health authorities in proactive health management and their commitment to early detection of potential health issues within the community. Chairman/CEC Tashi Gyalson commended the efforts of the health workers and the collaborative approach taken by the BMO office and C-19 projects. He emphasized the critical need for ongoing health camps to safeguard the well-being of the local population, especially in remote areas where access to medical services can be challenging.
Further health camps and initiatives are expected to continue under the leadership of Chairman Gyalson, reinforcing the region’s healthcare infrastructure and improving access to essential medical services. The proactive approach demonstrated in Horzey serves as a model for other regions, highlighting the importance of early screening and the significant impact of mobile health services in enhancing public health outcomes.
