Kargil, Aug 20: In a significant move to enhance child development services in Zanskar Sub Division, District Programme Officer (DPO) ICDS Kargil, Nargis Banoo, embarked on an extensive review of various ICDS projects across the region. This visit forms a crucial part of a broader initiative aimed at evaluating and enhancing the effectiveness of Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) in these remote areas.
Accompanied by the Mission Poshan and District Hub for Empowerment of Women (DHEW) teams, Nargis Banoo undertook a comprehensive assessment of the health, nutrition, and educational services provided under the ICDS scheme. The visit placed particular emphasis on the safety, security, and empowerment of women within the community.
During her visit, Nargis Banoo engaged directly with Anganwadi staff, parents, and local leaders to gather essential feedback. This interaction is expected to play a pivotal role in informing future improvements to the services offered. The DPO meticulously inspected the conditions and resources at several Anganwadi centers in Zangla, Karsha, and Stod sectors and reviewed the progress of ongoing construction projects for new Anganwadi centers in these areas.
A notable highlight of the visit was the inauguration of the PALNA Centre in Padum, Zanskar. This new facility is designed to offer care and protection for abandoned and orphaned children, reflecting a significant step towards enhancing child welfare in the region.
In her remarks, Nargis Banoo emphasized that the insights gained from this visit will be instrumental in refining ICDS programs to better serve the needs of the community, with a focus on improving the lives of women and children in Zanskar.
