Leh, Aug 20: In a series of constructive meetings, Dr. Iftikhar Hussain, the newly appointed Director of Sheep Husbandry, local community leaders from two prominent organizations in Ladakh met with the Hon’ble Chairman/CEC of the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC), Leh, Adv. Tashi Gyalson, to discuss community development and express their gratitude for recent support.
CEC Gyalson, alongside Executive Councillor for Sheep and Animal Husbandry, Tashi Namgyal Yakzee, extended warm congratulations to Dr. Hussain and welcomed him with traditional khataks. Dr. Hussain expressed his eagerness to collaborate closely with the LAHDC Leh and local communities, presenting his vision for innovative strategies to advance the sheep husbandry sector and support sustainable development in Ladakh’s pastoral communities. His plans are expected to bring a renewed emphasis on improving the industry and the livelihoods of those reliant on sheep farming.
In a separate development, Dr. Sonam Paldan, President of the Aryan Sangha Committee, visited CEC Gyalson to express gratitude for recent infrastructural enhancements funded under the District Capex Budget 2024-25. The Aryan Sangha Committee welcomed the construction of an Assembly Hall and a residential hostel for Aryan monks at Lasthang Beema, which are anticipated to provide significant benefits by creating spaces for meetings and accommodations for religious activities.
Additionally, Kunzes Dolma Jawo, President of the Ladakh Buddhist Association (LBA) Women Wing, met with CEC Gyalson to discuss the needs of their community, particularly the construction of a meeting hall and resource center in Murtse Colony. This facility aims to support the women’s wing in their various activities and community services.
CEC Gyalson acknowledged the delegations’ visits and reaffirmed his commitment to addressing their needs. He underscored his administration’s dedication to improving local infrastructure and supporting all community sectors. The proposed developments will be considered as part of ongoing efforts to enhance the region’s facilities and services.
