Billawar/Kathua: Government High School (GHS) Sukrala celebrated India’s 78th Independence Day with great enthusiasm and pride. The event commenced with the unfurling of the tricolor at 08:55 AM by the Headmaster, Smt. Shashi Bala, followed by the singing of the National Anthem and a ‘Salami’ Parade.
The celebration continued with a vibrant cultural program attended by the Chief Guest, Retired Captain Ram Dass, PRI members, senior citizens, staff, students, and the general public. The program opened with a speech by the Headmaster, Smt. Shashi Bala, who honored the sacrifices made by countless individuals during India’s struggle for independence. She emphasized the importance of upholding and strengthening the hard-earned “Azadi” that came after centuries of struggle.
The students of GHS Sukrala performed a series of patriotic songs, speeches, dances, and plays, highlighting key moments and landmarks of the Indian freedom movement. The cultural segment featured Dogri songs, traditional folk performances, and presentations on the historical significance of the region, which captivated the audience.
A large number of local residents gathered to witness the celebration, making it a truly community event. The program concluded with a vote of thanks presented by Smt. Shashi Bala to the Chief Guest, the staff, the students, and the community members for their participation and support in making the event a grand success. The students who took part in the various performances were also felicitated for their contributions.
