Leh :- Secretary, Stongdey Monastery, Ven Tashi Dawa called on the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd), at the Lieutenant Governor’s Secretariat. Chief Engineer, Power Development Department, Ladakh, Shri Tsewang Paljor was present in the meeting.
Ven Tashi Dawa raised several points related to the infrastructure development at Stongdey Monastery in Zanskar, including the installation of a solar-powered heating system in the monastery’s assembly hall; installation of solar-powered street lights around the monastery; provision of solar panels for the residential quarters within the monastery and construction of a compound wall/ fencing around the monastery.
Chief Engineer, PDD Ladakh, Shri Tsewang Paljor informed the HLG that the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the installation of solar street lights and solar panels for lighting at the monastery has been completed and the said work would be carried out from the budget components under Special Development Package (SDP).
The HLG directed Chief Engineer, PDD Ladakh, Shri Tsewang Paljor to include the provision of a solar heating system in the DPR and expedite the project’s completion so that the monks of the monastery can avail its benefits during this year’s winter months. He spoke to Deputy Commissioner, Kargil, Shri Shrikant Suse, IAS, to ensure the construction of the compound wall/fencing of the monastery in the ongoing season.
