Kargil: The Kargil Campus of the University of Ladakh organized a pivotal one-day special talk titled “NAAC Accreditation, Criteria and Process”.
The event brought together a cadre of expert speakers, including Dr. Pravin B. Cholke from P.D.E.A’s Anantrao Pawar College, Pune, and Dr. Popat S. Tambade, IQAC Coordinator and Vice Principal at Prof. Ramkrishna More Arts, Commerce and Science College, Pune. Their interactive sessions aimed at addressing preparation for NAAC Acreditation.
On behalf of Prof. S. K. Mehta, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Ladakh, Dr. Mohd Taqi welcomed the guest speakers and the other participants. Dr. Mehboob Ali, Incharge Administration, Kargil Campus, University of Ladakh, alongside Dr. Jaffar Ali Khan Coordinator Department of Sociology, Kargil Campus-University of Ladakh were also present on the occasion.
This important talk commenced with a traditional khatak ceremony, an emblematic cultural gesture of respect and hospitality. Khataks were ceremoniously presented to the Guest Speakers, embodying goodwill and reverence. The program began with the participants standing for the National Anthem.
Prof. Popat S. Tambade talked on “NAAC Reforms 2024-Binary Accreditation” during his detailed and discussion-based PowerPoint presentation. He emphasized the reformation of NAAC 2024, highlighting the differences between the old and new NAAC criteria and processes. He also discussed the metric process and curriculum design, mentioning that program outcomes must be aligned with graduate outcomes. He elaborated on the methodology of program outcomes and course outcomes.
In his presentation, Prof. Tambade discussed curriculum design, faculty resources, infrastructure, financial resources and management, learning and teaching, extended curriculum engagements, governance and administration, student outcomes, research and innovation outcomes, and sustainability (green initiatives). He mentioned that these strategic mechanisms are important for NAAC Accreditation.
Prof. Pravin B. Cholke talked on “Role of Innovation and Incubation in NAAC Assessment and Accreditation”. He focused on several important academic and non-academic strategies that he believes are key prospects for NAAC Accreditation, such as alumni registration, activities, and fund generation, a twenty-year developmental and prospective plan, a feedback mechanism on a four-point scale, the use of technology for data analysis, and the filing of media cuttings, teaching methods (participatory method, internship, fieldwork, and Bloom’s taxonomy), the establishment of a Green Redressal Cell, Innovation Cell, and Placement Cell, value-added courses, bridge courses, and cross-cutting issues in the syllabus.
He mentioned that all these things are important for attaining a good API score. Based on the identification of two best practices, Prof. Cholke further discussed USB and IQAC-based quality initiatives for reform in the examination strategy.
In his PowerPoint presentation, he covered existing NAAC visit schedules, with more importance given to innovation and incubation, SOP (Standard Operating Procedure), Intellectual Property, Reporting and Evaluation, Budgeting and Funding, and the Establishment of CIIE (Regional Cell). He emphasized that this whole strategy is important for obtaining NAAC Accreditation.
The orientation session concluded with a panel discussion and Q&A session, providing attendees an opportunity to engage with the experts and pose questions related to NAAC Accreditation and its processes. The resource persons addressed all queries comprehensively, ensuring a thorough understanding among the attendees.
