Leh, Aug 12: The Aviation Security Culture Week 2024 at Kushok Bakula Rinpoche (KBR) Airport in Leh concluded yesterday with a series of events that underscored the commitment of airport authorities and staff to maintaining the highest standards of safety and security. The highlight of the week was the quiz competition on “Aviation Security,” which saw enthusiastic participation from the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), airline staff, and the Airports Authority of India (AAI) teams.
The quiz competition, held on the fourth day of the week-long event, tested participants’ knowledge of aviation security protocols and practices. AAICLAS emerged as the winner, with CISF teams securing both second and third places, reflecting their deep understanding and commitment to the cause. The event was not only a test of knowledge but also a platform to reinforce the importance of vigilance and adherence to security measures.
Day five of the event concluded with the announcement of the quiz competition winners, marking the end of a successful week that engaged and educated all involved. The entire week featured various activities aimed at enhancing the safety culture at the airport, starting with the establishment of selfie points on August 5th to promote awareness and the importance of the event.
One of the key initiatives during the week was the Foreign Object Debris (FOD) Awareness drive held on the third day. This drive, a collaboration between AAI and airline staff, focused on the critical issue of foreign objects near aircraft operations, which can pose significant risks to safety. The drive included a thorough inspection of the apron area, where any identified debris was promptly removed, and an educational session that informed participants about the types of debris that could impact safety and the protocols for their removal and reporting.
Chairman Sanjeev Kumar also contributed to the week’s activities by sharing a special message on August 6th, emphasizing the goal of transforming and elevating security practices at the airport. “We aim to elevate and transform security practices for a safer experience,” he stated, further underlining the event’s significance.
As the week concluded, KBR Airport expressed gratitude to all airline and AAI staff for their active participation, making the event a resounding success.
