Leh 10 :- Chairman/CEC Adv Tashi Gyalson, LAHDC,Leh held a productive interaction with Dr. Swee Chong Quek and his team to discuss the ongoing Himalayan Women Health Project.

This initiative, a collaborative effort between the Council and Mahabodhi, focuses on improving women’s health in the Himalayan region through essential cervical cancer screenings.

During the meeting, it was highlighted that Dr. Quek and his team have conducted extensive cervical screenings in Leh, including areas such as Zanskar and other far flung areas. H’CEC Tashi Gyalson acknowledged their dedication and annual visits in providing crucial health services, extending sincere gratitude for their ongoing commitment to this noble cause.

CEC also commended Dr. Nordan Otzer for his dedicated work over the years in assisting women with screening tests and raising awareness about cervical cancer through the Himalayan Women Health Project.

The discussions also addressed future steps in the fight against cervical cancer, including potential vaccination programs. CEC Gyalson emphasized the importance of bridging gaps in vaccination coverage, particularly for excluded groups who have not yet received this critical preventive measure. He also proposed providing supplementary budget support to enhance these efforts and ensure broader access to vaccinations.Additionally, a roadmap for eradicating cervical cancer was outlined, focusing on strategic planning and community engagement to achieve longterm health improvements.

Chairman Gyalson commended Dr. Quek and his team for their invaluable contributions and expressed his intention for advancing collaborative efforts to combat cervical cancer in the region.
