LG of Ladakh Resolves War Heroes’ Housing, JNV School Issues, and Dental Surgeon’s Regularization

Leh 06 :-  A delegation comprising War Heroes led by Director, Sainik Welfare-cum-Secretary Rajya Sainik Board Ladakh, Col (Retd) Lobzang Nima, called on the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd), at the Lieutenant Governor’s Secretariat. Commissioner/Secretary to the HLG, Shri L Franklin, IAS and Deputy Commissioner, Leh, Shri Santosh Sukhadeve, IAS, were present in the meeting.

Col (Retd) Nima informed the HLG about the issue regarding the extension of the lease period of residential houses allotted to five War Heroes and 27 Veer Naris. He also apprised the HLG of the delay in the completion of the sewage treatment plant (STP) through the corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative at War Heroes Colony due to the change in the management at SIDBI.

The HLG asked DC Leh to extend the lease period of the residential houses allotted to the War Heroes and Veer Naris. He also asked him to follow up regarding the completion of the STP at the earliest with SIDBI.

A delegation comprising members of Parents Teacher Council of JNV School led by Shri Tashi Angchuk called on the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd), at the LG Secretariat. Advisor to the HLG, Dr Pawan Kotwal, IAS; Commissioner/Secretary to the HLG, Shri L Franklin, IAS and Deputy Commissioner, Leh, Shri Santosh Sukhadeve, IAS, were also in the meeting.

Shri Angchuk apprised the HLG of various issues at JNV Leh, viz. filling up the post of Principal which has been lying vacant since July 1, 2024; the need for passive solar toilets for boys and girls; the need to provide heating arrangements for students at the hostel and classrooms in JNV School; the need to complete pending projects at JNV School, such as construction of a multipurpose hall, blacktopping of internal roads of the School, boundary wall and landscaping of the premises; the need to instruct school authorities to stop the practice of ragging in the School, etc.

The HLG spoke to the concerned official at Headquarter JNV and asked him to depute an official who is willing to take over the charge of principal at JNV Leh at the earliest so that the school doesn’t remain headless and there is a smooth function of the school. He also asked the parents to prepare detailed project report (DPR) regarding the facilities and projects required at the School and submit it to DC Leh so that the work could be completed for the convenience of the students.

Dental Surgeon, Dr Gulzar Ahmed, who is working at Community Health Centre (CHC) Skurbuchan, called on the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd), at the LG Secretariat. Advisor to the HLG, Dr Pawan Kotwal, IAS; Commissioner/Secretary to the HLG, Shri L Franklin, IAS and Director, Health, Dr Motup Dorje, were also in the meeting,

Dr Gulzar informed the HLG that he was appointed as a dental surgeon by the then-Deputy Commissioner of Leh at a monthly salary of Rs 10,000 per month in 2012. He also informed that his colleagues who were appointed in 2008-09 were regularised and repatriated to J&K as per SRO 520, according to which casual workers engaged before the year 2015 would be regularised/ absorbed. He further informed that the SRO was repealed and he was neither absorbed/regularised nor there has been an enhancement in his salary.

Dr Gulzar requested the HLG for his intervention to resolve his issue.

The HLG spoke to Chief Secretary, J&K, Shri Atal Duloo, IAS, and took up Dr Gulzar’s case with him to resolve the issue.
