A woman was killed and her son injured in a road accident in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district on Friday afternoon.

The accident occurred on the Srinagar-Leh road at PTS Hadipora, Ganderbal, when a speeding truck collided with a two-wheeler, according to officials.

The mother-son duo was rushed to a nearby hospital, where the mother, identified as Asha Begum from Gund Ganderbal, succumbed to her injuries.

Her son, Tashooq Lone, sustained injuries in the incident, an official told The Earth news.

A police officer confirmed the incident, stating that a case has been registered and an investigation is underway.

Earlier this week, three tourists, including two women, were killed and a child critically injured in a separate accident at the Sonamarg hill station, Ganderbal.
