Leh, July 15, 2024: A delegation from Ayee village in Nubra sub-division led by Councillor, Panamik Constituency, Shri Tsering Sangdup, called on the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd), at the Lieutenant Governor’s Secretariat. Commissioner/Secretary to the HLG, Shri L Franklin, IAS, was present in the meeting.
Shri Sangdup raised several issues related to Ayee village, viz. the need to complete the irrigation canal from Kobet to Ayee to address the issue of shortage of water; the need to implement the solar lift irrigation system in the village to water their agricultural land; the need of fund for the construction of cremation centre for the community; the need to construct protection bund and channelisation of Siachen River due to the erosion caused by the River; the need to build a multipurpose hall for the youth of the village; the need to allocate funds for the completion of the work on the ongoing library in the village and the need to promote tourism in Ayee village, etc.
Hon Captain Chering Angchuk (Retd) informed the HLG that he is a two-time Everester who has also climbed several other peaks in India during his tenure in the Indian Army. He requested the HLG for recognition from the UT Administration.
The HLG asked Commissioner/Secretary, Shri L Franklin, IAS, to study the points raised by Councillor Panamik and see what best can be done to address the issues. He asked Col Lobzang Nima (Retd), Director of the Sainik Welfare Department, to study the case of Hon Captain Chering Angchuk (Retd).
Ex-Sarpanch of Diskit, Shri Stanzin Tsewang, called on the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd), at the LG Secretariat. Commissioner/Secretary to the HLG, Shri L Franklin, IAS, was present in the meeting.
Shri Stanzin Tsewang apprised the HLG of various issues in the Nubra sub-division due to the vacant posts of government officers. He requested the HLG to fill the vacant posts of Sub-Divisional Magistrate in Diskit; Block Development Officer in Panamik, Turtuk and Diskit and officials in Animal Husbandry, Cooperative Department and ICDS, etc.
The HLG informed Shri Stanzin that there is a shortage of gazetted officers in Ladakh due to which additional charges have been given to other officials. He stated that he would assess if additional charges could be given to officials to ensure the smooth functioning of the departments in the Nubra sub-division.
