Kargil 11 :- In Ladakh, contractual teachers appointed under the Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan by the Education Department Kargil gathered at Gandhi Park, Kargil, to protest the non-payment of their salaries for the past four months. The teachers, who are facing significant financial hardships, demanded immediate action for the release of their pending payments.

During the protest, a teacher while talking to media said that they have repeatedly approached the Chief Executive Councillor of LAHDC Kargil, the Deputy Commissioner of Kargil, Director Education UT Ladakh and the Chief Education Officer of Kargil but there is no any resolution. The teachers, appointed for a 10-month period through proper channels, have been awaiting their salaries for four months, despite assurances of timely payment.

Chief Education Officer Kargil, S.D. Namgyail assured the teachers that the delay in their salaries is due to pending funds under the Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan and that the salaries of all outsourced contractual teachers, lecturers, and other employees will be addressed once the funds are released.

Speaking to the media, S.D. Namgyail said that the issue has been raised multiple times, and have sent numerous letters.
