Kargil, July 10, 2024: Municipal Committee-Kargil today organized an interactive session with street vendors benefiting from the PM SVANidhi Scheme at TFC-Kargil.
The event was graced by Joint Director, Information, Ladakh/Administrator MC-Kargil, Imteeaz Kacho as the chief guest. Shabbir Hussain, Accounts Officer to Municipal Committee; Jaffar Hussain, Senior Assistant; Mohammad Abbas, Porject Engineer, PMAY(U); Sajjad Hussain, City Mission Manager and Zulaikha Banoo, President of the Street Vendors Association (FAtima Chowk side) were present on the occasion.
The programme commenced with a welcome speech by Sajjad Hussain, City Mission Manager, who expressed gratitude to all guests and vendors for their presence. He gave a background about how effectively PM SVANidhi Scheme is being implemented in Kargil with the active support of all stakeholders.
Imteeaz Kacho extended thanks to all participants for participating in the interaction, appreciating their hard work and dedication in managing their livelihoods and family expenses amidst challenges. He encouraged vendors to leverage the benefits of the PM SVANidhi scheme, emphasizing organized promotion of local food and maintaining product hygienic quality for enhanced market prosperity. He also advocated for heightened marketing strategies to empower local entrepreneurs.
Imteeaz Kacho assured comprehensive support and assistance from the administration to all street vendors within the munnicipal limits of Kargil.
In her address, Zulaikha Banoo expressed gratitude to officials, particularly Administrator, MC-Kargil, Imteeaz Kacho for support through schemes like PM SVANidhi.
She highlighted the financial challenges vendors have faced, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic and how the PM SVANidhi scheme stabilized their businesses, enabling them to operate successfully on a larger scale. She also raised their grievances and sought solutions for their welfare.
Before concluding, Imteeaz Kacho interacted with vendors from various small business units and discussed their operations, earnings, challenges and support needed from the administration. Lunch was also served to the guests and participants subseqeuntly.
