Leh, 09 July: The District Health Society organized a school awareness program on substance abuse and mental health at St. Peter’s School, Choglamsar, as part of its Mental Health (NCD) outreach programs.
Dr Sajad Hussian (PhD, Clinical Psychology) from Tele-MANAS discussed the issues associated with adolescents in the premise of mental well-being. Moreover, a special focus was drawn on stress and its management.The services available to overcome mental health-related issues were also shared in the program.
Phunchok Diskit, a psychologist with NTCP, explained the addiction cycle, the ban on Cool Lip, and the Tobacco Cessation Clinic at SNM Hospital. She also discussed the use of nicotine gum and patches and the role of mobile counselling in addiction recovery.
The event, attended by the principal, teachers, students, and officials, aimed to raise awareness and empower adolescents to make healthier choices.
