Leh: The Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd) flagged off Indian Army’s Delta 5 Motorcycle Expedition from Hall of Fame War Memorial, Leh to mark the 25th anniversary of the Kargil War.
This rally was organised to honor the valour and sacrifice of the Kargil War heroes, Veer Naris and veterans. GOC 14 Corps, Lieutenant General Hitesh Bhalla along with other Army personnel, Veer Naris, ex-servicemen, NCC cadets and school students were present on the occasion.
Emphasising the crucial role of the Indian Army in handling crisis situations, the HLG highlighted the supreme sacrifices of martyrs, their courage and their achievements and stated that the nation remembers and honours their sacrifices every year on Kargil Vijay Diwas.
The LG stressed the importance of maintaining a youthful Army and mentioned the Agniveer Scheme introduced by the Government of India. He stated that Agniveers, who have joined the Army, are performing well and emphasised that enrolment of youth in the Indian Army strengthens its ability to defeat any enemy forces.
The LG felicitated the Veer Naris and also interacted with the jawans participating in the motorcycle rally.
