Leh, July 05: In a pioneering initiative to foster STEM education among youth in Ladakh, a practical session under the guidance of esteemed mentors was held. Mr. Urgain Raftan from Hanu Yokma, Mr. Stanzin Takpa from Hanu, and Mr. Ahmad from Chiktan led the session, focusing on MIT App Development, 3D design, Virtual Reality (VR), Robotics, and more.

The session, supervised by senior mentors Ms. Jigmet Padma (B.Sc Nursing, SRM College), Ms. Skarma Angmo (B.Tech, CUSAT), and Mr. Tsering Gaphel (B.E YMCA), Trustees of LSF, attracted around 40 enthusiastic students. Participants hailed from various schools including Govt. High School Skalzangling & Skara, Jamyang School, Ladakh Public School, BVN High School, Lamdon School, Leh Modern School, and Girls Hr. Sec, Leh.

Notably, students traveled from remote corners of Ladakh such as Phokar, Nubra, Geramangu, Kukshow, Tia, Hanu, Skurbuchan, Sapi, Markha, Khangral, Turtuk, Chiktan, Sankoo, Tangal Kargil, as well as from Jammu, Bihar, and Nepal, reflecting their keen interest in advanced STEM education.

“The session aimed to ignite the minds of young innovators and cultivate a culture of innovation,” remarked the mentors. Participants were immersed in hands-on activities covering 3D design and printing, Virtual Reality simulations, MIT App development, Internet of Things (IoT), and Arduino-based system design.

This groundbreaking initiative was made possible by the generous sponsorship of STEM Lab equipment by ONGC Limited, underscoring their commitment to empowering youth through technology-enabled education.

As Ladakh continues to embrace technological advancements, such initiatives play a crucial role in preparing its youth for future challenges and opportunities in STEM fields.
