· To facilitate licenses, financial support and market access
Samba, July 04: District Development Commissioner (DDC) Samba, Abhishek Sharma, chaired a crucial District Level Monitoring Committee (DMC) meeting aimed at boosting the business activities of Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) through a comprehensive three-month Saturation Drive. The meeting, held recently, focused on sensitizing stakeholders and planning the launch of a campaign to facilitate FPOs in obtaining essential licenses and accessing digital platforms for efficient sales.
The primary objective of the Saturation Drive is to streamline the process for FPOs to acquire licenses such as Inputs, Seeds, Mandi, GST, FSSAI, and onboard platforms like ONDC and other E-retailing platforms. This initiative is expected to enhance the operational efficiency of FPOs, thereby increasing their productivity and enabling better market linkages.
During the meeting, it was emphasized to encourage banks to provide necessary financial support and loans to FPOs to meet their credit requirements. This financial assistance aims to create a supportive ecosystem for farmers engaged in income-oriented farming practices.
DDC Abhishek Sharma urged stakeholders to organize camps exclusively for FPOs throughout July 2024, inviting CEOs and Board members of all FPOs to participate and share their activity plans. He also suggested including Directors of FPOs in all Public Darbars and Block Divas meetings to address their concerns and perspectives.
Furthermore, Sharma highlighted the importance of informing and sensitizing FPOs about various government schemes and programs, including bank linkage schemes. He stressed that concerned departments should assist FPOs not only in application processes but also ensure timely issuance of licenses. It was directed that all licenses should be issued to FPOs before August 14, 2024, to facilitate seamless operations.
The initiative underscores the administration’s commitment to enhancing agricultural productivity, promoting sustainable farming practices, and ensuring better income opportunities for farmers in the district.
