Leh, July 04: A delegation from Lamdon Jamyang School, Khaltse comprising Chairwomen, Smt Kunzes Dolma and Principal, Smt Tsewang Dolma, called on the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd), at the Lieutenant Governor’s Secretariat. Principal Secretary, School Education Department, Shri Sanjiv Khirwar, IAS and Commissioner/Secretary to the HLG, Shri L Franklin, IAS, were present in the meeting.
Smt Kunzes informed the HLG that Lamdon Jamyang School is a charity school with an enrolment of around 200 students. She also informed that the school is located on the left side of the Leh-Srinagar National Highway while the playground is on the other side of the road due to which students are at great risk while crossing the road. She requested for the construction of a subway or a foot-over bridge to ensure the safety of students.
The HLG called the Chief Engineer of Project Vijayak, Brigadier Vinay Bahl and asked him to prepare the detailed project report (DPR) of a foot-over bridge at a suitable place near the school to benefit students and also villagers of Khaltse and submit the DPR to Secretary, PWD and share a copy of the DPR to Principal Secretary, School Education Department. He also asked Brigadier Bahl to complete the construction of the foot-over bridge at the earliest for the convenience of students and villagers of Khaltse.
Yoga teacher and singer Phonsok Ladakhi called on the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd), at the Lieutenant Governor’s Secretariat. Commissioner/Secretary to the HLG, Shri L Franklin, IAS, was present in the meeting.
Shri Phonsok informed the HLG that he is a filmmaker, singer and yoga teacher who has also worked closely with the Indian Army. He informed the HLG of his plan to popularise yoga in Ladakh along with popularising the region as the land of yogis.
The HLG asked Shri Phonsok to select an area, plan a yoga camp and then conduct the yoga camp in another area to transfer the knowledge of yoga practice among the youth and elderly alike. He also asked him to plan lodging and transportation facilities in totality for the benefit of the people of Ladakh.
