Kargil, July 02: In a significant operation to ensure public safety, the fearless sappers from the Forever in Operations Division of the Fire Fury Corps successfully disposed of unexploded ordnance (UXO) in Bhimbat Village.
The alert of these hazardous materials came from a vigilant villager who reported two UXOs found in the village on 26 June. Acting swiftly, the Civil Administration mobilized the skilled team of sappers to address the threat posed by these dangerous remnants of past conflicts.
The UXOs included a hand grenade and a vintage Pakistani mine, both of which were carefully destroyed by the sappers. The operation was conducted with the utmost caution to ensure the safety of the local community and the environment.
Following the initial disposal, the area was thoroughly sanitized on 27 June. During this sanitization process, two additional UXOs were discovered in the vicinity. These newly found explosives were also neutralized, further safeguarding the village and its surroundings.
The successful disposal of these UXOs is a testament to the effectiveness and bravery of the sappers involved, as well as the vigilant cooperation of the local community in ensuring the security of their environment.
