Kargil, July 01: The Seminar & Culture Committee of Government Degree College (GDC), Kargil organized a dynamic one-day seminar focusing on the topic “Implementation of Three New Criminal Laws in India.” The event, hosted by Taira Bano, Assistant Professor in the Department of English, aimed to educate and engage students and faculty about significant legal changes set to take effect nationwide from July 1, 2024.
The seminar commenced with a warm welcome speech by Padma Wangchuk, In-charge Principal of the Department of Zoology at GDC Kargil, emphasizing the importance of comprehending the new laws and their implications.
Distinguished guest speakers included Kacho Manzoor Ali Khan, Senior Advocate and Pebal Lawyer at DLSA Kargil, along with Syed Mehdi Aga, Deputy Chief Defense Counsel in Kargil. Kacho Manzoor Khan delivered a comprehensive session, delving into critical sections such as Section 2, 22, 109, 193, and 302, alongside discussions on women’s rights, victim compensation schemes, the Evidence Act, and the concept of Zero FIR. The interactive session with Kacho Manzoor Khan and Syed Mehdi Aga facilitated a lively exchange of ideas, addressing queries from both faculty and students.
Thinless Chondol, Assistant Professor in the Department of Commerce, concluded the formal proceedings with a vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to all participants and speakers for their valuable contributions.
Following the main session, Assistant Professors Archo and Azra led engaging activities including a question-answer session, quiz competition, and group discussions. These activities provided attendees with further opportunities to deepen their understanding of the new legal framework.
