Kargil, July 01: Dr. Mohd Jaffer Akhoon, Chairman/CEC of the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC), Kargil, attended the much-anticipated annual function of Government Higher Secondary School Lankerchey today. The event was a grand affair, attended by Councilor Lankerchey Ghulam Haider, the school’s Principal, teachers, staff, students, and parents.
In his address, CEC Dr. Jaffer Akhoon extended his heartfelt congratulations to the Principal, teaching staff, and students for the successful organization of the annual function. He commended the large-scale participation of girl students, emphasizing that the progress of society depends on the active involvement of both women and men across all spheres of life.
Dr. Jaffer praised Government Higher Secondary School Lankerchey for maintaining an exemplary position among the higher secondary schools in Kargil district. He noted the school’s impressive roll enrolment, the quality of its dedicated teaching staff, and its commendable academic results. Highlighting the students’ achievements despite the challenges posed by the new CBSC pattern, he expressed optimism about further improvements in future board exams.
The CEC acknowledged the significant role played by the winter residential coaching program and assured that similar initiatives would continue in the coming year. He also shared that a recent meeting at the Ministry level in Delhi had been held to discuss providing residential coaching with hostel facilities in all higher secondary schools of the district.
Addressing a memorandum of demands presented by the school, which included requests for additional teaching resources, staff shortages, the covering of the second floor of the school building, the construction of an additional room for Atal Tinkering Lab equipment, and improved transport facilities for students from remote villages, Dr. Jaffer directed AEE SVD to prepare a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the necessary renovations and facilities. He assured that vacant teaching posts would be rationalized at the end of the year based on the student-teacher ratio and that a remuneration of ₹6000 per year for transport facilities was under deliberation at the Ministry level.
Councilor Ghulam Haider expressed his gratitude to CEC Dr. Jaffer for taking time out of his busy schedule to attend the annual function. He also congratulated the school’s staff, teachers, and students for their efforts in organizing the event and promised to support the school with two air conditioning systems and one Smart Board. He assured that the remaining demands would be addressed with the support of the CEC at the earliest opportunity.
The event concluded on a high note with vibrant cultural performances by the students. Medals and mementos were awarded to students for their exceptional achievements in various events and board exams, celebrating their hard work and dedication.
