Various delegations apprise Brig Mishra of their issues
Leh, June 30: At least four lectures a day for all teaching staff, maintenance of biometric attendance of teaching as well as non-teaching staff in all the government schools and strict action against defaulting officials were the key instructions issued by Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (DR) BD Mishra (Retd) to School Education Department.
Chairing a meeting with officials of the Department at the Lieutenant Governor’s Secretariat to discuss the Rationalisation of Posts or Resource Person, LG Mishra also instructed for carrying out the rationalisation exercise in such a manner that the studies of students are not impacted by the exercise.
Principal Secretary, Sanjiv Khirwar; Commissioner Secretary to the LG, L Franklin and Director, School Education Department, Tsering Paldan, were present in the meeting held over the weekend.
Khirwar and Paldan informed the LG of the rationalisation exercise done along with steps taken to detach teaching and non-teaching staff in government schools for the benefit of students.
Paldan informed the LG that 48 posts of masters were shifted to headless Govt Middle Schools with more than 20 students while the senior most teacher was given the role of head teacher in Govt Middle Schools with less than 20 students.
He also informed about the current status of attachment of teaching/non-teaching staff in government schools; the principles being followed for managing teachers, masters and lecturers in government primary, middle, secondary and higher secondary schools in Ladakh; the proposed teacher-student ratio; the number of surplus teachers along with shortage of teachers, etc.
The LG asked Khirwar to take strict action against defaulting officials, teaching/non-teaching staff and also ensure the maintenance of biometric attendance of teaching/non-teaching staff in all the government schools of Ladakh.
He also highlighted the need for proper utilisation of teachers, masters and lecturers by ensuring that all the teaching staff take at least four lectures in a day.
He also asked Khirwar to carry out the rationalisation exercise in such a manner that the studies of students are not impacted by the exercise. The LG also highlighted the need to maintain the correct student-teacher ratio in government schools.
Meanwhile, a number of delegations called on Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd), at the Lieutenant Governor’s Secretariat and apprised him of their issues and concerns.
Yangchan Putit from Tsaga village informed the LG about the loss of crops and pasture due to the damage to the ancestral khul at Tsaga village in the Changthang area. She also informed the LG that she is not receiving financial assistance from the Sheep Husbandry Department for the promotion of livestock rearing.
Commander, Border Roads Organisation, Col Ponung Doming informed the LG about the completion of the pipe-laying work to allow routes from the water source to fields so that Putit can water the agricultural field.
The LG asked Executive Engineer, Irrigation and Flood Control, Murtaza to ensure that Putit has a water connection to water the fields. He also asked the concerned official to direct District Sheep Husbandry Officer, Leh to ensure that Putit gets what she is entitled to.
Tashi Angmo from Aryan Valley called on the Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd), at the LG Secretariat.
Angmo informed the LG about the surgery of both her daughters, who are suffering from speech disorders, in Delhi and the ongoing speech therapy at a specialised school in Mysuru. She also informed the LG about the loan availed by her for the operation and speech therapy of her daughters. She requested for assistance from the LG.
The LG asked the OSD to the LG, Dr Asif Hussain to explore all possibilities to provide assistance in the schooling, treatment and lodging of Angmo and her daughters.
