Leh, June 30: Adv. Tashi Gyalson, Chairman of the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC), Leh, along with Executive Councillors Stanzin Chosphel, Tsering Angchuk, Tashi Yakzee, Ishey Spalzang, and Tsaga Stanzin Lakpa, and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Ladakh, extended their heartfelt congratulations to the residents of Leh and Kargil districts, with special commendations to the people of Changthang and Zanskar, on the sanctioning of a monumental power development project worth ₹1,199.60 crore by the Government of India.

In a statement issued today, Adv. Tashi Gyalson lauded the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, emphasizing that this landmark development signifies a new era for the power sector in Ladakh. Launched under the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS), this project aims to revolutionize the power infrastructure across the Union Territory through a series of comprehensive initiatives focused on enhancing power supply and reducing losses.

The project, a part of RDSS, focuses on reducing Aggregate Technical and Commercial (AT&C) losses and improving power distribution infrastructure in Ladakh. The Ladakh Power Development Department (PDD) has meticulously prepared an action plan and detailed project report for the RDSS implementation across the Union Territory.

“This transformative initiative will significantly reduce Aggregate Technical and Commercial (AT&C) losses through the introduction of LTAB technology and will enhance grid connectivity to the remote Changthang Region, thereby reducing dependence on diesel generators and providing a more reliable and sustainable electricity supply,” Gyalson stated.

He further expressed gratitude to Hon’ble Prime Minister Sh. Narendra Modi, Hon’ble Home Minister Sh. Amit Shah, Hon’ble Power Minister, and Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh for their unwavering support towards this transformative project.

“This project is a monumental step towards comprehensive electrification and modernization of power infrastructure in Ladakh. It reflects the government’s steadfast commitment to improving the quality of life and promoting sustainable development in our region,” Gyalson concluded.
