Leh, June 30: A delegation of Physical Education Masters, led by Aga Syed Yasin, met with the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd), at the Lieutenant Governor’s Secretariat today. The meeting aimed to address longstanding concerns regarding the promotion process for these officials.

The delegation, which includes members who have been serving as Physical Education Masters since their promotion in 2009, expressed their grievances regarding the delay in their advancement to the role of Zonal Physical Education Officer. Shri Aga Syed Yasin highlighted that the promotion has been stalled due to ongoing clarifications required from the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) concerning gazetted posts within the Youth Services and Sports Department.

Yasin appealed to the Lt. Governor to ensure that the existing rules for gazetted posts issued by the Jammu and Kashmir government are adhered to, facilitating the long-awaited promotions for the delegation members.

In response, Moses Kunzang, Joint Director of Youth Services and Sports, informed the attendees that the new recruitment rules for gazetted posts had been officially notified on June 27, [Year]. These rules outline a clear pathway for advancement from the position of Physical Education Master to roles including Physical Education Lecturer and Zonal Physical Education Officer, with further opportunities for promotion to the position of District Youth Services and Sports Officer.

Kunzang assured that the recruitment process would prioritize the filling of top-level posts to create promotion opportunities for other officials.

Addressing the concerns of the delegation, Lt. Governor Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra assured them that the recent UPSC notification has indeed created new promotion avenues. He committed to ensuring that officials meeting the criteria specified in the new recruitment rules will be promoted to gazetted posts as per the regulations.
