Kargil, June 28: Printing and distribution of a detailed itinerary providing detailed information about tourist locations, distances, home stays, emergency healthcare facilities, and maps of all tourist spots in the Kargil, besides promotional videos of Kargil’s tourist attractions on social media platforms are the key plans that Kargil Hill Council has zeroed in to boost Tourism in the district.
This was informed as Chairman and CEC, LAHDC, Kargil, Dr Mohd Jaffer Akhoon on Friday chaired a review meeting to discuss measures to enhance tourism in Kargil district.
Executive Councilor Tourism, Kacho Mohd Feroz; Councilor Town, Haji Abass; Councilor Yourbaltak, Manzoor-ul-Hussain; Assistant Director Tourism and other concerned tourism officers attended the meeting.
The meeting delved into various issues related to the promotion of tourism in Kargil including the printing and distribution of a detailed itinerary that would provide detailed information about tourist locations, distances, home stays, emergency healthcare facilities, and maps of all tourist spots in the district.
The CEC directed the tourism officers to submit the detailed costs for printing and designing the itinerary within two days to enable printing and distribution among hoteliers and other stakeholders.
The CEC directed for the promotional posters and the identification of locations at Ladakh Bhawan in Delhi, Srinagar Airport and Leh Airport for displaying these posters to promote various tourist attractions of Kargil.
Dr. Jaffer stressed the importance of creating promotional videos of Kargil’s tourist attractions and asked to utilise social media platforms for advertisement.
He also highlighted the potential for promoting Buddhist pilgrimage sites to attract international tourists from countries like Taiwan, Thailand, Singapore, Japan and other countries.
Executive Councilor Tourism, Kacho Mohd Feroz proposed inclusion of various locations in the itinerary such as Munshi Aziz Bhat Museum, Sangam Point at Kharool, Changila, Hanfia Masjid, Gurduwara, Kargil Sunset Point, the riverfront path from TFC to Sher Bagh, Goma Kargil Viewpoint, and Old Bazar Kargil.
He also suggested incorporating a small tourist map in the itinerary to help tourists easily navigate the district’s attractions.
EC Feroz further suggested to explore the potential of Kargil to attract Hindu tourists through religious pilgrimage sites like Droupati Kund at Drass and Sindhu Darshan in Aryan Valley. He added that these areas could be developed on a larger scale to attract Indian tourists.
