Jammu, June 28: The first batch of pilgrims for the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra was ceremoniously flagged off by Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha early this morning. The event took place at 5:32 AM at Yatri Niwas, Bhagwati Nagar, Jammu.
A convoy of 3,488 pilgrims, spread across 164 vehicles, set off towards the twin base camps in Baltal and Pahalgam. From these camps, the pilgrims will embark on their journey to the holy cave shrine of Lord Shiva, located in the south Kashmir Himalayas.
This year’s yatra comes with enhanced security measures. Multi-tier security protocols have been implemented, and all pilgrims are required to carry mandatory RFID cards to ensure their safety and traceability throughout the pilgrimage.
The official commencement of the yatra is marked by a high turnout, with approximately 3.5 lakh pilgrims registered so far, indicating a significant increase in participation compared to previous years.
The authorities are committed to ensuring a safe and seamless pilgrimage experience for all.
