Kargil, June 28: Department of District Youth Services and Sports, Kargil today organised the much-awaited Zonal Level Inter School Volleyball and Handball Competitions for Under 19, 17, and 14 boys and girls at the Khree Sultan Cho Sports Stadium in Bemathang, Kargil. The event, a significant fixture in the annual calendar of activities for 2024, drew enthusiastic participation from young athletes across the region.
The inauguration ceremony, led by DYS&S Officer Kargil, Abid Ali, officially opened the competition amidst a fervent atmosphere. Officer Abid Ali underscored the pivotal role of sports in the holistic development of students, emphasizing values of sportsmanship, teamwork, and dedication. “These competitions are not merely about securing victories, but about nurturing character, fostering teamwork, and showcasing raw talent,” Officer Ali remarked during his address.
A total of 53 schools are enthusiastically participating in the competition, comprising 10 Higher Secondary Schools, 17 High Schools, and 26 Middle Schools. The event, meticulously organized by the Zonal Physical Education Officer Kargil, aims to promote sporting excellence and provide a platform for budding athletes to exhibit their prowess in both volleyball and handball.
