Leh, June 27: In a significant stride towards digital governance, the Union Territory of Ladakh has embraced the e-Gazette system for the publication of official notifications, orders, and regulations. This transition, aimed at enhancing transparency and efficiency in administrative processes, comes as part of the Administration’s ongoing efforts to modernize governance practices.

The decision, formalized under Order No. 290-LA(GAD) of 2024 dated June 25, 2024, represents a pivotal moment in Ladakh’s administrative landscape. Initially introduced through Order No. 361-LA(GAD) of 2022 and subsequently refined by Order No. 93-LA(GAD) of 2022, the adoption of the e-Gazette system marks a strategic shift from traditional paper-based methods to a streamlined digital platform.

Under the latest directive, key responsibilities for operationalizing the e-Gazette web portal have been assigned to designated officials. Dr. Laltinkhuma Franklin, IAS, Commissioner/Secretary of the Planning Development & Monitoring Department (PD&MD), assumes the pivotal role of Uploader. This responsibility underscores his mandate to ensure the timely and accurate uploading of official documents onto the e-Gazette portal.

Supporting this effort is Mr. Yawar Abass, Junior Assistant at the Public Works (R&B) Department, appointed as the Submitter. His role will be critical in submitting documents for publication, thereby facilitating seamless integration into the e-Gazette framework.

In a statement issued by the Administration of UT Ladakh, this initiative is hailed as a transformative step towards enhancing accessibility and reliability in the dissemination of governmental information. The shift to an electronic platform is expected to expedite the publication process, reduce administrative overheads, and promote environmental sustainability by minimizing paper usage.

This move is aligned with Ladakh’s broader digital governance agenda, aimed at leveraging technology to improve service delivery and promote accountable governance practices across the region.

For further details and updates on the implementation of the e-Gazette system, stakeholders and citizens are encouraged to visit the official website of the Union Territory of Ladakh.
