Kargil, June 27: The Directorate of Accounts and Treasures, Finance Department, UT Ladakh, has successfully conducted a two-day training session for district officers from Kargil district on the Government-e-Marketplace (GeM). The session aimed to enhance the understanding and operational efficiency of district officers in utilizing the GeM portal for procurement and sale of services and products.
Led by Deputy Director, GeM, Ankit Jhawar, and Business Facilitator, Javeed Shaikh, the training provided in-depth insights into the operational mechanisms of the GeM portal. The experts detailed the procurement and selling processes and presented key statistics, including the number of currently registered buyers and the 319 services available on the portal to date.
The training emphasized several critical aspects, including (i) Advantages for Buyers: Participants learned about the benefits GeM offers to buyers, ensuring transparency and efficiency in procurement. (ii) User Roles: Detailed explanations were provided on the segregation of user roles within the portal, facilitating better management and accountability. (iii) Forward Auction Facility: Information was shared on how to utilize the forward auction facility for both movable and immovable items. (iv) Payment Methods: Various payment methods available on GeM were discussed, ensuring participants are well-versed in financial transactions on the platform. (v) Buyer and Seller Ratings: The importance of maintaining good ratings and the impact of ratings on transactions were highlighted. (vi) Incident Management Policies: Policies regarding incident management were explained to handle any issues that might arise efficiently. (vii) Buyer Classifications and Vendor Assessments: Detailed insights were provided into buyer classifications and vendor assessments conducted by RITES, enhancing the credibility and reliability of transactions on GeM. (viii) Multilingual Support and Helplines: The availability of multilingual support and dedicated helpline numbers was emphasized to assist users in navigating the platform. (ix) GeM myCHAtbot: Demonstrations on using GeM’s myCHAtbot for queries were provided to ensure participants can seek help whenever needed. (x) One Nation One Product Initiative: Dedicated pages on the GeM portal for this initiative were showcased, promoting regional products on a national level.
Live demonstrations were an integral part of the training, allowing participants to witness the practical application of the portal’s features. Additionally, all participants were reminded of the critical terms and conditions related to GeM legalities, ensuring they are well-informed about the regulations governing the use of the portal.
The training session concluded with a commitment to continually support and educate district officers in leveraging the GeM platform for improved procurement and service delivery in Ladakh.
