Leh, June 26: A delegation from the Housing and Urban Development Corporation Ltd (HUDCO) Regional Office, Jammu, led by its Regional Chief, Sri Deepak Bansal, called on the Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd), at the Lieutenant Governor’s Secretariat.
Advisor to the LG, Dr Pawan Kotwal, IAS; Principal Secretary, Sanjiv Khirwar, IAS and Commissioner/Secretary to the LG, Sri L Franklin, IAS, were present in the meeting.
Deepak informed the LG that the organisation’s main objective is financing Housing and Urban development projects in the country. He apprised the LG of Rs 5 crore assistance provided by HUDCO for rehabilitating the flood-affected villages during the cloud burst incident in Leh in 2010. He also informed about various Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities initiated by the organisation and apprised the LG of the organisation’s interest in providing CSR funds for developmental activities.
Advisor to the LG Dr Pawan Kotwal and Principal Secretary Sanjiv Khirwar informed the LG of the requirement for kid-friendly furniture in government schools of Ladakh.
The LG appreciated HUDCO for its work and asked Khirwar to identify the requirements at Government Schools in Ladakh and prepare a comprehensive plan to share with HUDCO so that they can provide funds under its CSR initiatives.
Senior Superintendent of Police, Leh, Shruti Arora, IPS, called on the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd), at the LG Secretariat.
Shruti apprised the LG of the issue between truck drivers carrying goods from Leh-Manali and Leh-Srinagar national highways of the ongoing construction of the new terminal at KBR Airport in Leh due to the delay in the unloading of goods near Hall of Fame. She informed about steps being taken to tackle the issue, including the maintenance of a register to allow the truck’s unloading on a first come first serve basis.
The LG asked Shruti to deploy two Police personnel at the unloading site to enforce the order issued by her to ensure that such an incident does not occur again.
