Leh: The Medical Department, Leh successfully wrapped up a three-day training program held from 19th February to February 21st, aimed at enhancing the skills and knowledge of Accredited Social Health Activist (ASHA) Facilitators (ANMs). Held at the CMO Office, the training focused on Maternal and Child Health Services (MHS) and growth monitoring.

Under the expert guidance of District ASHA Coordinator, Leh, Yeyha Khan participants delved into crucial topics such as growth monitoring, types of undernutrition, interpreting growth curves, and the significance of home-based care for young children (HBYC). Sessions highlighted the importance of HBYC in reducing child mortality, covering Home-Based Newborn Care (HBNC), age-appropriate interventions, and the roles of ASHAs and Anganwadi Workers (AWWs).

Additionally, discussions centered on Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) initiatives, emphasizing their crucial role in child health. Participants explored the impact of issues like open defecation and utilized the ASHA Handbook for HBYC Programme to enhance their understanding and implementation of WASH practices.

This comprehensive training equips ASHA Facilitators (ANMs) with the necessary knowledge and skills to contribute effectively to maternal and child health initiatives in the region. Such efforts align with the broader goals of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare’s POSHAN Abhiyaan, aiming for healthier outcomes for mothers and children.
