Kargil, Feb 06: Deputy Commissioner/CEO, LAHDC, Kargil, Shrikant Suse today conducted tour of Drass subdivision in connection to review status of development works and snow clearance works on Srinagar-Leh Highway.He was accompanied by Executive Engineer Mechanical, Mohd Hassan, Dy. SP Traffic, Manzoor Ahmed, Tehsildar Drass, SHO Drass, PHE Engineers and concerned BRO officers.
During the visit up to India gate, the DC took stock of the snow clearance measures being undertaken by project Vijayak on the highway. The snow clearance team informed DC Kargil that all efforts being taken to make the road suitable for vehicular traffic at the earliest.
He also discussed telephonically with Chief Engineer Beacon regarding snow clearance status being undertaken by Beacon.
Meanwhile, the DC also met a public delegation led by Councillor Bhimbat, Abdul Wahid, Councillor Ranbirpora, Abdul Samad and former BDC Drass Noor Mohd at Dak Bungalow who projected their grievances and issues.
The demands include the promotion of tourism, compensation for land, installation of street lights etc.
DC Shrikant gave a patient hearing to all grievances and assured suitable follow-up for redressal of all genuine issues as per norms in a specified timeline.
He also enquired about status of snow clearance work on various internal roads in the subdivision, functioning of JJM, essential supplies etc.
The Deputy Commissioner also visited Pandrass and Rambirpur to take an assessment of the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) works in Sub Division Drass.
He also visited the winter tuition centre at Drass and took an assessment of the facilities being provided to the students including heating arrangements etc.
Later, the DC also visited Sub District Hospital, Drass where he interacted with patients and hospital staff. He took a detailed assessment of services being provided to the patients and inspected its various sections and wards.
Earlier in the morning, he also participated in Drass winter carnival culmination event at Drass.
