Leh, Feb 02: A three-day “Regional Workshop on Sowa Rigpa and Medicinal Plants of North East” was organized by the National Institute of Sowa Rigpa (NISR), Leh — UT Ladakh in collaboration with Mon Sowa Rigpa Centre, Dirang, Arunachal Pradesh.
The workshop was inaugurated by the Chief Guest HE Tulku Thupten Yarphel Rinpochey, Thupsung Dhargye Ling Monastery, Dirang. Sowa Rigpa experts, botanist, scientists, scholars, Sowa Rigpa practitioners, Sowa Rigpa students from various parts of North Eastern states participated in the workshop.
Pemtan Monpa, Assistant Commissioner, Dirang and Dr. Gyurmet Dorje, Director, Central Institute of Himalayan Culture Studies, Dahung, Arunachal Pradesh and Professor Dorjee Damdul, Dean, Faculty of Sowa Rigpa, Central Institute of Higher Tibetan Studies, Sarnath were the Guest of Honour on the occasion.
Dr. Padma Gurmet, Director, National Institute of Sowa Rigpa, Leh welcomed the participants and delivered the key note address. The speakers stressed on the need of preservation and promotion of Sowa Rigpa system of medicine and harness the potential of medicinal plants particularly in the north eastern states with special focus on Arunachal Pradesh.
The Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh, Pema Khandu while expressing his Inability to participate in the workshop due to his pre- occupations, sent his best wishes for the successful conduct of the workshop and expresses his full support for preservation and promotion of Sowa Rigpa.
The workshop had technical sessions on 01st and 2nd February, 2024 on different topics related to Sowa Rigpa and medicinal plants by the experts in the concerned fields. There will be field trip / exposure tour on 03.02.2024.
