Leh, Jan 30: The Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd) held a meeting with the Departmental Secretaries and Head of Departments (HODs) at the Lieutenant Governor’s Secretariat to review the progress of the ongoing projects, discuss prospective projects along with the grievances flagged by the public related to their respective departments.
The HLG discussed various issues including establishment of UT level Recruitment Board/ Selection Board, status of detachment of teachers and medical staff, retention of helicopter service between Leh and Padum, issue of entering of waste water in the houses at Thangdumbur Sankoo, lack of internet connectivity at Shimsha village, purchase of MRI machine for district hospital Kargil, , finalisation of tourism logo, progress under vibrant village programme, tendering of technician for dehairing machine etc.
Regarding the issue of rescue of snow leopard at Khardong village, the HLG instructed Secretary Animal Husbandry, Ladakh to continue the Animal Birth Control Programme in Ladakh. The HLG asked the concerned Secretary to take the matter related to creation/establishment of the UT level Recruitment Board/ Staff Selection Commission with legal experts. He also directed Principal Secretary, School Education Department, Ladakh to examine the medical cases of attached teachers. He also directed Commissioner Secretary, Health and Medical Education, Ladakh to examine the matter of attachment of medical staff.
The HLG asked Secretary Civil Aviation Department Ladakh about the status of operation of helicopter services between Leh and Zanskar. He also asked Secretary PHE and IF&C, Ladakh to examine the matter of entering of waste water in the houses at Thangdumbur Sankoo.
The HLG directed Advisor to HLG, Dr Pawan Kotwal to form a committee to discuss the matter regarding increase the honorarium of Nambardar in Ladakh. He also directed Secretary, Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs to conduct a special camp for e-KYC for the inhabitants of Shimsha village and also asked about supply of rice to the consumers.
The HLG sanctioned a 12% subsidy for clearance of sugar stock through the public distribution system. He also directed departmental Secretaries to conduct press briefings on the achievements of UT administration. He also asked Commissioner Secretary, Forest and Ecology to prepare a presentation on wildlife maps in consultation with the Chairman, LAHDC, Leh.
The HLG asked the Secretary, Sheep and Animal Husbandry about the progress/ status of pashmina kid pens among herders. He also directed the concerned secretary to re-tender for the technician of the pashmina dehairing machine.
Regarding the completion of Jal Jeevan Mission in Ladakh, the Secretary, PHE, Ladakh, Shri Micheal D Souza, IAS gave a detailed progress/ status of the completion of the Jal Jeevan Mission work. The Secretary apprised the HLG that Village Water Sanitation Committee (VWSC) has constituted to run the water management after proper installation of Functional Household Tap Connection (FHTC). He also informed that the collected water charges would be used for maintenance of the water supply. The HLG asked Secretary PHE, Ladakh about the minimum charges of water supply under JJM and completion of the scheme as earliest.
